Hello I am Alan

Am 27 from Scotland, And I have recently became a dad to a 2 month year old daughter now.
My ex and myself are not together and shes making it so difficult for me. I have seen her only 4 times
which were once a week, But now she has went in a huff and took my 1 day off me, My lawyer said
it could look better because they are cutting legal aid budgets. I am at the end of the road on this matter
I have tried everything with my ex to be civil she wont reply to my messages nothing and I am missing my
daughter so badly that its affecting my whole life, I am currently not paying for my daughter because she cant come to
my agreement I am desperate to be in her life and pay for her, If it couldn't be worse when I was seeing her she said
she would only put me on the birth certificate when she feels good and ready. Is there anyone else I can see about this
I am badly missing her so much.

Alan

Hi Alan,
you can apply to the courts for parental responsibilities. I wouldn't bother with a solicitor. If you apply to the courts for PR you cab apply for a contact order too at same time. Saves you money. Shes doesn't have to fill forms in for you to apply but she can if she wants. But would stay nice and tell her and always be amicable no matter how hard beleive me in going through some poo myself.
Is your daughter 2 months or years?
Keep trying to be nice and keep documentation of everything. It will help down the line

Hey Alan,

I second what Colin has said don't bother with a solicitor just use them for their free hour when you start procedings I've been to 6-7 now haha!

Your situation is very like most of the dads on this site so you are not alone, my ex done exactly the same as yours kept messing me about ect, I'm not sure if it's the same in Scotland but you may have to try mediation first get a fm1 when it doesnt work or your ex doesnt show up then you can apply.

Lifes a [censored] then you get one pregnant.

Slim 🙂

Hi

You need to understand that contact and maintenance are separate issues, and even though she is denying you contact, your maintenance liability still remains. At the very least, open a separate account and pay the CSA calculation amount into that account, so that if you get hit with arrears, you'll have the money available.
