A radical change in careers information, advice and guidance (IAG) has been unveiled at a launch attended by Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families Secretary, Ed [censored], Sir Alex Ferguson, Manager of Manchester United Football Club and Schools Minister Iain Wright. This guarantee comprises a range of measures to ensure that each young person, aged 14-19, has the support they need to make the choices that are right for them about education, employment or training.

The Department for Children Schools and Families has set up this blog site because they want to hear from parents. The Information, Advice and Guidance Guarantee may be for young people but they know that young people can often turn to parents and carers when they’re making big decisions so they need to make sure that they're offering enough support to parents for this challenging time. For instance, they would like to know:

- What sort of advice and support do you need in order to ensure that your child sets off on the path that’s right for them?

- What more could be done to offer the right guidance to young people?

- What advice did you find useful when you had to make big decisions about your own future?

You’ll find lots of opportunities on this site to comment. To make sure the discussion gets off to a good start, they've gathered lots of information on the site – full details of the Information, Advice and Guidance Guarantee, videos from the event, and have searched the internet for what people are saying about this major new initiative for young people.

I just did the few test questions and found them straitforward - and there were informative links as you went through them.
It only took a few minutes.
