[Solved] Getting my 12 year old son to think of his future

Good Morning

Whenever I have a chat with my son about what he wants to do when is older, he always says he wants to be a PE teacher. I know where he is coming from - he sees teachers going home at 4pm and having all these long holidays. However, you and I know that is not really the case.

How can I get my son to broaden his horizons and get to think of what other job/career paths to consider other than from being a teacher. Are there any helpful websites that you can suggest?

By the way, I have nothing against being a teacher. I admire the work they do and the pressure they are put under these days.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

It's only in the last 6 months that my daughter has decided what she wants to do, and she takes her GCSE's this July, and my older daughter has decided she doesn't want to do psychology as a career even though she's just about to complete her degree in this. And my son had no idea what he wanted to do even after he'd completed his maths degree, so I pushed him into a teaching qualification as something to keep him occupied for a year, and he's ended up as a maths teacher and enjoys it.

Basically, even if your son has an idea now, chances are it will change a few times over the coming years - don't worry too much, just encourage him to do what he enjoys.
