[Solved] I messed up. Oh I messed up really badly

I’m an idiot.

My wife is 23 weeks pregnant with our first child and I have done the worst thing I could imagine.

Recently, a friend and I were talking about our relationships and this led on to talking about our [censored] lives. Now that I think about it, it’s quite wrong and a betrayal of my wife’s bond with me.

But that’s not the big screw up. We ended up getting carried away and explicit content was sent to me.

We are online friends and we got in contact last year when we were both going through shitty periods (my wife left me). She lives miles away and there is no emotional attachment.

I felt bad so I deleted the conversation and from then on we didn’t cross boundaries.

All well and good until yesterday when my wife opened my laptop to use a spreadsheet. She begun nosing around in my iMessages and came across the conversation. The rest of the conversations were boring every day chat. But that one that I had tried to erase and forget was there for all to see.

Here’s the thing. I know I messed up and you guys will probably hit me with hate but I’m more interested in what I need to do to fix it because I love my wife and unborn son with all my heart and I cannot afford to lose them.

In my opinion, there is only one thing to do and that's talk to your wife about it. Sounds simple, and I'm sure it will be anything but that, but if your wife is to trust you, then you have to talk to her.

I am trying. But a part of me also wants to give her some space.

I have been supportive through the pregnancy and I just don't want this one stupid act to be the reason why I lose her and my son.

I am trying to talk. I know I broke her heart. I just want things to go back to normal but I know it'll take time.

I just wish there was a way to rewind time.

Hello, Please talk with your wife, or if you find that hard at the moment write her a letter. Communication is key. Trust needs to be re-gained.
I hope things work out for you both.

it is best to talk to her personally, and discuss this issue if she is a sensible woman, then she will understand everything
