Hi all,
First time here. so looking for advice me and my partner are expecting our first baby in feb 2015, just had the 20 week scan etc. As always have like 4 books telling us about stuff thats going on and what we should/shouldnt be doing..
we're just trying to get some clarification on antenatal classes... should we do them? are they useful? that sort of thing... our midwife has been pretty useless to be honest and some days definitely feels like we're stepping into the unknown!!!
if anyone has any advice or guidance would really appreciate!
Congratulations and welcome on here. 🙂
It's been a very long time since my first was born, but one thing I would advise it to stop reading every book going (unless they've got a lot better), they just got in the way and we found that everything fell into place. Don't be afraid to ask for help from parents, friends etc, but equally don't be afraid to ask them to let you get on with it on your own sometimes - even if it means you make the odd mistake.
I'm sure others with lots more recent experience will give advice as well.
We were due to have our first last Thursday but he's hanging on in there for now... Our midwife was pretty useless also and we ended up attending the antenatal classes although afterwards we felt they didn't give us anything new to think about.
Interesting Jon.
How would you have liked the classes to have gone? What would have been more helpful? What wasn't covered?
