TOPIC: Advice on a mutual agreement payment

Advice on a mutual agreement payment 1 year 7 months ago #72785

Back in 2004 myself and my ex came to a mutual agreement regarding outstanding arrears on my CSA account. I paid her the outstanding arrears and in turn she wrote a letter to the CSA asking them to take this amount from the account as we had come to a private agreement between ourselves. Everything was ok until the beginning of 2015 when I received a letter saying that she had been asked if this payment was to be collected from me to which she replied yes. I contacted the CSA and sent them a copy of the letter which she had written regarding this arrears and the mutual agreement which we had both come to. I have been fighting this now for over a year and getting nowhere, the CSA is telling me that the letter is not worth anything as this was before the time when payments could be written off. Can anyone advise me on where I stand or if anyone has been in a similar situation. Thank you.

Was the CSA schedule set up prior to 2003? If so, then they may be correct unfortunately. I would go and see the Citizens Advice Bureau as soon as possible to get advice on this.

Thank you, I will go and see the citizens advice bureau as soon as possible. The agreement was prior to 2003 but looking at the breakdown of there bill some of this is for the payment which we came to an amicable agreement on and the rest seems to be to the government. My guess is this is from when she was claiming benefits.
