what is the children’s playground game “monkey in the middle“, and why do some people say that it is very unfair for two adults (parents), to play this game with a child?

I know a game that was called 'piggy in the middle'.  Basically a ball is thrown between two people and the one in the middle tries to intercept it.  When they do, the person who threw it becomes the 'piggy'.  Adults would generally adapt their play to make sure the child can participate

@dadmod3 so I’m confused. This sounds just like a game of catch. Why would adults have to modify their play? What is so unfair about it?
