Hiya,
I wonder whether there is some way to show or see which users are online. It would just help me to feel that I am not typing into a black hole with nobody else 'listening'.
I wonder about two places to implement this.
- How about adding in a new column in the 'Members' list [top right of the static menu bar], and therefore make the list sortable by their online status. This would also give a link to their profile.
- Or maybe a static display of say upto 10 or 20 usernames who are online (and thus a link to their profile).

I hope this helps

Also,
Could there be some additional options for when to receive an email notification.
- I would be interested in knowing when a new topic/thread has been started
- I would like to be able to subscribe to a whole board, eg 'Behaviour Management'

Hi MrOrange,

I have enabled the who is online feature for a trial period. We will see if it is a useful feature over the next month or so and decide if we keep it enabled.

So feedback would be good.

I prefer this switched on, it's often the first thing I look at when I go into a forum.

However, got this just now:
actd, Google [Bot], MSN [Bot], Yahoo [Bot]

Is it possible to exclude the Bots?

Hi Goonerplum,
Thanks for doing this so fast!
I will keep trying the ' Who is online' feature and give more feedback.
I agree with Actd regarding the small niggle of seeing Bots.
/thanks Orange

To hide the Bots is a special modification that would need to be fully tested before adding to the forum - unlike who is online its not just a function of the forum software. So that may take a little time - i'll keep you posted. 😎 )

Thanks - it's just a minor annoyance. If I had to choose between losing the bots, or losing the whole 'who's online', I can live with the bots 🙂

Looking at the users list, I noticed a Baidu Spider - never heard of it before, so - since Google is my friend - I found this:

Thought the mods might be interested in this.
