okay. This is the thing...
What age should I start taking my little one to the dentist?

I googled it and quickly found a couple of hits saying 6 months after you see the first tooth and this is roughly about 1 year old.
Then there is a site saying that by the age of 3 they'll have a good number of teeth and could start seeing a dentist!

Help ;;)

Is there some definitive guidance in the uk?

...The NHS Choices website recommend that you take your baby when you go for check ups, as ak57 did... just to get them used to it.
Once the milk teeth start coming through its time to start getting them used to brushing....Great Fun!! 😆
When you're at your next check up take your little one, you can ask the Dentist what he recommends, but I'm with ak57, the earlier the better!

I started taking my kids with me whenever I went for a check-ups way before there first teeth (not that I had a choice in the matter). I think it has been very helpful as they both actually look forward to the visits, despite my son having to have quite a lot of work done on his teeth, for his age (a whole other story!) This was actually encouraged by my dentist.

Yep as above, my son went along to check ups from a young age,

The dentist would sit him in the chair and have a look in his mouth quickly, more so he was used to it as he grew up rather than actually checking for anything.

Seemed to help as he has never been worried about the dentist, just finds it normal.

My grandchildren went as soon as they had a few teeth and regularly for check ups
ever since.
