I can't believe this, a school took a picture of a teenager in his own bedroom for inappropriate behviour... http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/02/19/school_laptop_spy_row/

A free laptop apparently means no rights to privacy.?????

I love the follow up that "it could never happen in the UK", but surely the whole "there is a webcam on my laptop or computer, with no phyiscial on or off switch means a hacker (or school) could always find a way of turning it on" is the issue...?

I believe this wouldn't happen in the UK for one good reason, no school funded by our government would fund every child with a laptop.

There has in recent years been a move to provide computer equipment to all lower income families with children computers for families.

There is no "tracking of equipment" as in the US.

Hi there

The Home Access scheme is very real and supported by many of the major retailers on the high street. It is designed to enable internet access to every child and you will need to apply to join the scheme.

You can get the laptops or broadband modems
