Spurgeons and Dad.Info doesn’t investigate reports of abuse or neglect. But below, you can find advice on who to contact if you have concerns about a child or young person.

Reporting a concern

It can be difficult to know what to do if you think a child is at risk. It’s important to remember that if you’ve spotted things that don’t seem right, others will have too. Speaking up can make sure that child gets help as soon as possible.

The sooner you contact your local children’s social care duty team, the quicker they can act. They’re available 24 hours a day, and can make an anonymous report if that feels safer. If a child is in immediate danger, please call the police straight away by dialling 999.

[Solved] child ill after spending the weekend with me

Hi all. I had my children over the weekend, they are/were both full of cold when i got them, one was off sick from school, one was at school, they both saw the doctor on friday just gone, no chest infection just a cold/cough. their temperatures have been 36-37 all weekend and been mostly themselves. this morning one said his tummy was hot but that was all, i took it that he was hungry/thirsty so gave breakfast, i helped him eat it and was cracking jokes and being silly to take his mind off it, it chirped him up. got a message just now saying that he was sent home from school, has been to docter who has said he has an ear infection and conjunctivitis and that its all my fault for not spotting the signs of it.

Don't worry about it, it's not your fault, She'll just be trying to get a rise out of you, ignore her 🙂

That's ridiculous, she may prefer to blame you but even recognising the signs wouldn't have prevented it, only antibiotics would do that! If they were already ill then spotting symptoms would be difficult and children can be fine one minute and really poorly the next!

Try not to worry and don't blame yourself for this.
