Spurgeons and Dad.Info doesn’t investigate reports of abuse or neglect. But below, you can find advice on who to contact if you have concerns about a child or young person.

Reporting a concern

It can be difficult to know what to do if you think a child is at risk. It’s important to remember that if you’ve spotted things that don’t seem right, others will have too. Speaking up can make sure that child gets help as soon as possible.

The sooner you contact your local children’s social care duty team, the quicker they can act. They’re available 24 hours a day, and can make an anonymous report if that feels safer. If a child is in immediate danger, please call the police straight away by dialling 999.

[Solved] Child Car Seats

Hi Guys, I'm looking for some advice and opinions please.

We are looking for a car seat for our firstborn (due January) and I have shortlisted three preferred first stage car seats,
1,The Maxi Cozi Pebble Plus
2, The BeSafe Izi Go
3, The Cybex Aton Q

All secured with the ISOFIX base.

All of these look like great safe seats and I am struggling to decide between them. Has anyone else here looked at or have any experience of any of these seats, what would you choose and why? (Please feel free to comment if you chose a different seat to these three and why you chose that one.

Thanks in advance. 🙂

Ex an I use the pebble. I keep the base in my car, but ex doesn't drive, but keeps the carseat at hers (unless I have our son.) She says it's very good because it is also really quick and simple to belt in securely too.

Also, My mum kept making 'digs' about son wanting to look out and buying a forward facing seat, I had to show her this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PKuNJujMYw

Thanks for the reply.

Yes it's scary isn't it, we've also been looking at the second stage seats and a few of those have a support cushion in place of a harness, the cushion is supposed to spread the crash load better but having seen a crash test where the car rolled and the child actually fell out of the seat I'm yet to be convinced!

Hi there.
.
I am way past the child seat stages now, but what I would say is go to somewhere like Mothercare, Toys R Us or Halfords and they will come out and fit the seat in your car for you, look at what fits best as with all the different shaped rear car seats and different shaped baby seats, that will be important, Isofix is great, but also ask them to show you the seat fitted without using this as if you go out with a friend who doesn't have Isofix that will also factor into your choice.
.
I used to look after my niece when she was about a month old, and although the seat she had was an isofix seat I didn't have that and the seat never felt secure in my car.
