Okay, I guess it is time for Christmas to arrive everywhere.

I just spotted the Dad Talk article The 12 days of Christmas.

The think that I am trying to work out is where can I put the Christmas tree with little toddlers around. If it is on the floor then they might suck the electric bulbs and that would be dangerous. If the tree is on a table they might stretch and pull it ontop of themselves...
All ideas very welcome !!

For a few years now I have stopped using glass borbals and replaced them with plastic ones that don't smash like the glass decorations.
Are there other ways I can decorate the tree to keep it safe for todders and young children

I'm not an expert on this, but I would have thought LED lights would be safer, I think they work at 3 volts, and the bulbs aren't glass. Having said that, a youngster shouldn't be unsupervised where there's a tree anyway in case they do something to topple it over.

... regarding toppling over: Most years I have tied the tree to something secure (like the radiator). The string could not be seen and it gave me reassurance when quick little feet got to the tree faster than I could get off the setee !!

Hi there

I suppose like anything there is danger everywhere - when my kids were younger we just made sure they knew they were not to touch the tree as Santa was watching!!!

We were assisted by a room sensor on our burglar alarm which I had convinced them that every time the red light came on Santa was watching them - worked a treat πŸ˜€

I would keep chocolate of it as it will remove a temptation but for us it was about telling them and it seemed to work. If only the cats were so obedient!
