[Solved] Which Private Pension providers do CMS recognize?

Hello everyone,

I currently have started a new job and they have setup a NEST pension scheme for me at 1% of my salary. They will only contribute a max of 1% so I want to save more for my future. I am 32 years old and considering putting away 15% of my salary and not sure if CMS will deduct that from my gross calculations with NEST if I increase my own contributions . If I decided to open a private pension for example with Aviva would CMS recognize them and if not is there a list of who they recognize. Thank you

I’m thinking of opening a private pension for example with Aviva is it recognised by CMS and will my contributions be taken in account when I get my yearly review. Thanks

I'm pretty sure they would recognise any reputable pension provider, you are entitled to save for your retirement, as long as you aren't putting a disproportionate amount away to avoid paying more child maintenance.

They should be, I've responded to your previous email.

Get financial advice, but assuming you aren't getting benefits, you will probably be best to increase your pension contributions using salary sacrifice - this means as well as tax relief, you also get National Insurance relief (it also saves your employer some money) and your effective salary is what will be used to calculate child maintenance.
