  • Hi all, my son is 17 and until April was in a college course. He’s quit the course and I’m still paying maintenance to his mother. Should I stop? I’ve tried to let the csa know filled out an online form but got the answer that because of data protection they can’t do anything. His mother has to tell them, it’s been a few months and she still hasn’t bothered. Should I just stop the standing order?

Hi, suggest you don't stop the payments, CMS will likely chase you for arrears and increase payments.

If you think child benefit is being claimed fraudulently, then can report it: https://www.gov.uk/report-benefit-fraud

CMS like to check status of child benefit when deciding if payments should stop or not.
