Hi,just needing some help/advice,my daughter left school May 2012 at the age of 16 and enrolled in a health & beauty course at her local college, she started this in September of the same year.In November 2012 she found herself a job and continued with the course up until the Xmas holidays.
In January 2013 she stopped attending college to concentrate on her job,i telephoned the CSA to make them aware of this and was told that they would need the information from my ex-wife and continue making payments (i did owe some arrears).
I since found out from my daughter that her mother had not declared to the child benefit dept that my daughter had left college and was working and ignoring all communication from the CSA.
Every time i spoke with CSA they gave me the same story that they couldnt contact my ex-wife but to maintain the payments,i explained the situation regarding the child benefit and was told they would liaise with them and investigate further.
I continued to make the payments thinking that they were going towards the arrears that i owed and never received any other information.
A few weeks ago i received a letter stating that the regular payments had ceased but would still owe the arrears,i received yesterday another letter from them with a summary sheet of payments and it shows i have been paying the regular payments from when my daughter started work with little amounts being deducted off the arrears.
Could anyone tell me when should the regular payments have ended ?
Do i have a strong case against them ?
It seems unfair that i have been paying £35 per week for 40 weeks whilst my daughter has been working for a living !!
Any help would be most appreciated.

DEAN.

The CSA payments should have stopped at the same time as the Child Benefit payments, though it's not clear what happens if the benefit was claimed fraudulently - I'm not aware anyone has ever tested that.
