If you one child is 20 and working and your second child is turning 18 and working domthe csa automatically stop the payments or is it something you have to chase I also have a new family with 2 children can anybody advice me pleas
You shouldn't be paying for the 20 year old as payments stop at 20
Also your 18 yr old is working, so you won't have to pay for them either
No the CSA won't automatically stop, you do need to chase them, ring them straight away and inform them else you will be over paying
As iam not in contact with either child nor the mother I know the younger one is not in school and have seen on there status on face book that she has a job as I said before I now have a new life with 2 children and I do not wont them affected by this is it not the mothers duty tostop claiming for family credit and Iinform the csa of this ?
It is the mother's duty, but some don't and the CSA will continue to assess until age 20 or until they are informed otherwise by the mother, or child benefit stops (but you still have to ask the CSA to check.)
Hi villamad11
Thank you for your post. I am William the Child Maintenance Options consultant. I am unable to comment on Child Support Agency (CSA) specific cases as we are a separate organisation and do not have access to their case information. However, I can provide some general information.
Under child support legislation, regular child maintenance payments must be made until a child is 16 years old, or 20 if they are in full-time, non-advanced education (A-level or equivalent), or for as long as Child Benefit is being paid. When a child leaves full-time education in the summer, Child Benefit generally continues until the first week of September. You can find more information on the statutory rules on when child maintenance stops on Gov.uk at https://www.gov.uk/when-child-maintenance-payments-stop.
If you are the paying parent and you have a case in place with the CSA, you may wish to contact them directly to discuss your query. You can find their contact details on any letters they have sent you, or via Gov.uk at https://www.gov.uk/child-support-agency.
For more information on the ways to set up child maintenance, please visit our website at http://www.cmoptions.org. Alternatively, you can call us free on 0800 988 0988 between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday or 9am and 4pm on a Saturday. We have a sorting out separation web-app that you may find useful. It offers help and support to separating and separated families. The link is: www.dad.info/divorce-and-separation/sorting-out-separation.
