[Solved] what is classed as payments

I currently have an informal agreement with the mother of my child for maintenance but I wanted to compare it to what I would be paying for CSA.

One question i have is that I had a finance on a car which I'm still paying for, but have transferred the ownership of the car to the mother and she uses it on a daily basis (i have bought another old car for myself to use). does the finance payments on the car count towards what CSA would calculate?

Hi there

If you google CSA calculator it will link you to a questionaire that will give you an estimate of how much you would pay.

There is also a sticky at the top of the Finance section called "How does the CSA calculate payments" It links to a CSA leaflet that is quite helpful about explaining what you are liable for and what deductions can be made.

hi,

Thanks, i have used that calculator, but i wanted to know if that finance payment for the car which is now being driven by the mum would be classed as part of the CSA payment if our arrangement was done through CSA?

Thanks.

If you go for a family based arrangement, then you can agree that this would for part of the payment, but if your ex refuses, then it won't be classed as such. All you could then do would be to apply for a variation of the assessed amount on the basis of a debt accrued while you were together for the benefit of the family.
