[Solved] What happens if my ex moves abroad?

First of all, thank you for the ongoing time and advise on this forum...I hope I can do that one day!

So today, I found out that the decree nisi hasn't yet been applied for after being told at the start of the month it had...that's another story.

My ex is from Holland and she's planning to travel their soon for a short stay with my two young children. I'm wondering if she's looking into moving back there for family and friends support. She MAY have to sell the house in the divorce (not something I want to happen but it might be a thing), she's a freelancer here and she has many times in the past threatened/said when we were together that she wanted to move back for the schooling and other reasons.

Without me spending even more money on my solicitor, has this happened to anyone on here? How would that affect the financial outcome of the divorce and me seeing the girls (probably once a month?). Just me thinking things through.

I'm not the world's best dad and I'm not very paternal, so don't really miss them when I don't see them but the thought of them being in another country is an odd one. I don't think I'd stop her moving as it makes a lot of sense for her personally..

She could apply through the CMS for child maintenance, or she could include this in the financial settlement of the divorce - I would use the Child Maintenance calculator to find out what you would be due to pay in child maintenance and include this in the financial order of the divorce (whatever you do, don't agree to a lump sum in the divorce in lieu of child maintenance as she can apply to the CMS at any time after 12 months, irrespective of what is in the divorce order). You might be able to apply for a variation for a reduction in maintenance if you intend to travel to see your children.

Thank you for the reply. I know what (from the calculator) I'd need to pay for child maintenance, I guess in which case I just see how things progress with solicitors and then make a formal application at the right time.
