Sadly, I have no contact with my two children (issues relating to my ex-wife, her family, and 2 toothless court contact orders). It is my understanding that my younger daughter was in approved education (possibly A-levels) which she should have completed in June 2023. If she decides to retake them, do I need to continue to pay Child Support? Also, from a standard email from the CSA, my payments appear to be linked to the payments of Child Benefit (I think that means that I no longer pay if the Child Benefit payments cease). Will the HMRC or the CSA notify me that the Child Benefit payments have been withdrawn? I doubt my ex-wife will let me know, hence the quesiton.
Thanks for your advice here.
Hi,
Yes with CMS the child benefit is linked to paying of child maintenance. Once CB ends, then maintenance payments stop. CMS would write to you when this happens. Final cut off age for CMS payments is when child turns 20. So possibly you may have to pay until then.
