I reduced my hours at work in January of this year. Took a 16.6% pay cut. I have my child 3 nights a week, I provide everything for her at my house. Uniform, clothes etc I’m paying way above what I believe I should now be paying. And things look like they are gonna go through cms. I’ve read that how they determine what your Salary is by going off last year tax year through Hmrc. Obviously last year I earns more then what I do now. So is this true? Or can you tell them your salary and also prove with wage slips and they go with this? And historic tax year is just last resort incase you don’t give any other details? Thanks
Hi, yes they like to go off your most recent tax year info from HMRC. But if your present day income is 25% less then they will reduce the maintenance
It's great that you're reaching out and doing your research! It's important to know your rights when it comes to child maintenance. From what I've heard, the Child Maintenance Service typically uses the previous year's tax year to calculate the amount of child maintenance to be paid.
