Hi, back on here for a bit of advice..
I pay child maintenance to my ex for 2 kids directly, never been through the CSA, but I use the government calculator to work out the amount.
I have recently had a reasonable pay rise and checked on the calculator and it said the amount should be £70 more per month (I have 2 children living with me as well). I have increased by monthly standing order to my ex and let her know.
She is now chasing me to tell her my salary, which I feel is not necessary as I can provide a p60 once a year.
However, even a p60 is not showing my salary as it includes and bonuses + extra for weekend work (rare), which varies by year. I do not include any of these extra's in the maintenance calculation, but I do additionally pay for half of my daughters private maths tutor, my sons footbal club fees and both of the swimming club fees.
The threat is always, "if you dont give me your salary, I will go through the CSA" - which doesnt seem like it would really benefit anyone?
Do I just let her know my current salary or just tell her to wait until April when I will have my p60, either way she will find some way of saying she is not being paid enough..
thanks!
Totally up to you how you proceed with this.
You could set it up through the CMS if you're paying the amount the calculator tells you to & that would minimise any discussions you need to have with your ex about money.
Perhaps you could point out that you're currently paying above the legal level of liability with your contribution to clubs etc.
You need to be very careful, if she goes through the CMS, they will also look at your P11D, so do you have a company car, car allowance, fuel card, taxable benefits?
These are in the cray world of the clowns at CMS, treated as income, and she will get a percentage of this
In my case, I have a car allowance circa £6,500, I do not see this, goes against the car, the P11D benefit is circa £11K per year and I have private health assumed at BIK of £2K
So you are taxed on the above, although do not see as physical money in your salary and you will also be paying a percentage to your ex, based on the BIK values, as treated as income
In my position, this assumes that I earn an extra £20K and I pay the ex her percentage on something I do not see
You really could not make it up
hi,
if its getting stressful and you don't want to have any more discussions with your ex about income, you could go to CMS. but with them your pay rises, bonuses, and over-time work all get taken into account and you will have to pay more maintenance.
interesting thank you!
I do have private health insurance, so it is something to consider
sounds like overall id be best keeping this out of CMS if I can
