Hi all,
need some advice, I have recently received a letter from the csa saying that my monthly payments are going up to £290 per month. I could barely survive on the £223 they were taking. I also have now taken on responsibility for my partners child paying towards her clothing , food etc ( she is 14 ) any advice to see if this can be taken into account would be appreciated. My partners Ex is claiming to be unemployed but is in fact working full time, and only pays £5 per fortnight.

Hi There,

Welcome along.

I think I have understood you right, I'm guessing that you are now with a new partner and are helping out with her daughters expenses?

Did the CSA ask you to supply wage slips so they could re assess your payments? If they did then what you have been asked to pay will be based on your take home pay, if you live with a new partner and she has a child you will get a reduction in what you pay as there is another child living in the same home that you do, so it is accepted that you will be contributing to her up-bringing.

I would give the CSA a call and ask them to double check all the details that they have on record for you to ensure they are aware of all of the facts, ensure they know you have a child living at the same address as you (if this is the case) and also inform them of how many if any nights your children/child stays with you, if over 52 nights there will be a further reduction for this also.

is your partners ex employed by someone? If so, then the inland revenue should have a record of this, and I'd ask the CSA to check on this and reassess him.

Think if you call the CSA with the child benefit details of your partners child if you live together you will receive a discount
