Thanks to all who helped me last time but now a new problem has arisen. The cms have contacted me regarding a case from 2003!!!
They want £1700 pounds for my son from a previous relationship.I paid for his upkeep every week with out fail by cash. She mariied then split up,and i think that is when she went to csa for money for her new child. This is the first ive heard of a claim against me which has come to light because of my recently settled claim.my problems are these.
1.I have no idea where my ex is so can not get her to confirm i paid ( even if she would!)
2.Having full knowledge of my income and assesing me for my current payments they now want £70 a month more
3.THEY say that I have no right of appeal and that £70 is the minimum they will acept or they will issue an order against earnings
Please,is there anything I can do about this
Thankyou
Hi
I would expect that your ex will not confirm that you have paid anything. I would ask for a breakdown of how the arrears have arisen - I'm not sure that there is a great deal you can do unfortunately, but I would consider raising a complaint against them and contact your MP as soon as possible asking him to do the same.
Your ex's claim has re-open your csa case. So you have stopped paying for your son if so when.? Find out if the £70 a month is for now are towards the £1700.
Hi,I carried on paying for my son but in cash, then paid for his uni costs. The £70 is to pay off the £1700
