Has anyone had the CSA accept their tax relief on their pension?
As I know it states online they include pension plus tax relief, I've always just given them my monthly pension amount and my assessment states the monthly amount but no tax relief shown which should be 20%
For example a pension of £210 a month with tax relief is £262.50 so they should be using the £262.50 figure surely?
Are we talking CSA2 or CSA3?
On CSA2, maintenance is calculated on takehome pay - pension is one of the few deductions from your takehome pay which is allwed by the CSA, so they would simply be calculating maintenance on a new takehome figure.
On CSA3, I can see where the complication would arise as it's calculated on gross - I must admit I have no idea how this works, but I assume that the pension contributions are deducted from your gross income and the extra amount that goes into your pension is tax/NI that you then don't have to pay, so I suspect that it is the reduction in gross that counts, rather than the actual gain to your pension.
It's CSA2 looks like they have just included the amount without tax relief but I'm so fed up with querying stuff for so many months, I'm not even going to bother querying
The info I found was from CSA3 about the tax relief so that seems like its included
Looks like CSA2 is just the pension amount and CSA3/CMS includes tax relief
