Hi I’m have just been contacted by child maintenance regarding new payments but my daughter is 18 and in full time employment as far as I know as don’t see her.
Do I have to continue to pay this agreement which I pay direct to my ex not through them ?
Why would child maintenance still be involved in this or can she get payments backdated ?
hi,
just to confirm, you have been paying maintenance to your ex as a private arrangement? if true, then still your ex can contact CMS and open a case. then CMS take over and will work out what you have to pay. they can not make you do back-dated payments. if she opens a case tomorow, then CMS will make you pay from that date onwards.
you could ask CMS to find out status of child benefit for your daughter. if they won't, you can try but it may be difficult.
Yes it’s through child maintenance but pay ex direct not through them but they calculate payments I should make.
