My ex has messaged me asking if I will continue to pay maintenance for my 16 year old IF he leaves school ( 6th form), she emphasised the IF he leaves.
I live abroad so all communication with my son is normally via FB or Skype, however since she asked he is no longer talking to me, hence my thoughts that he is no longer at school.
I think he has already left but won't tell me, how can I find out if he is no longer in full time education?
Hi , have you parent responsibility ? if you have you can write to the school for his school reports and they would tell you hes left. when was he 16 ? any clue on his fb , via his mates do a bit of detective work. If he has left the mum will struggle as your son is not entitled to anything and 16 year olds eat and sleep lot . maybe continue to help till your son sort himself out, but ask your son to update you on his progress
Hi Andy
Do you pay via the CSA, or are you paying directly? If directly, I would be inclined to stop paying and tell her that you will only resume (and pay arrears) if she provides evidence that your son is still in school.
