Self employment question.

Hi everyone

I wanted to ask about self employment, my soon to be ex wife and I are discussing child maintenance and I wasn't sure if personal allowance is factored into working out child maintenance payments.

I phoned the CMS who informed me that yes it's based on the taxable income (after personal allowance).

Even though they've confirmed it it seems low, any self employed people that do the same?

Any help would be appreciated!

hi,

am self employed/sole trader. I do self assessment tax returns. far as I know CMS would see my net profit (after expenses taken off etc.) and use that value to work out my maintenance payments.

would recommend this support group for paying parents: https://www.facebook.com/groups/239699060076601
