I am new to this site and to CMS payments in general. My question is what happens if I lose my job (for example there have been a lot of redundancies in my company due to COVID-19). Am I still liable for the payments if I don't have a job?. What happens if I resign?
Don
Hi,
If you are out of work then your cms is based on your income.
If you claim universal credit then you pay £7 per week. If you do not claim or cannot claim because you resigned then you pay £0. Just note if you resign from a job then you may be barred from claiming universal credit for 6 months, its based on circumstances of resignation eg if you were being bullied, victimised etc then you may be able to claim but its a complex situation for dwp to review.
Let the cms know on day 1 of the change in circumstances.
Thanks
hi,
DWP don't like to give benefits if someone quit their job. experienced that years ago. I lost a new job that lasted less than a month. I told CMS I am jobless so they said I don't pay any maintenance.
Thanks Daddyup. Good to know that I am not liable if I lose my job or even resign. Just in case it is good to know. Hopefully COVID-19 ends soon and I can keep working and keep my ex happy. :p;)
Don
Thanks Bill. Good to know
