My ex (resident parent) has our 3 children 75% of the time. I have them 25% of the time. I have paid maintenance according to the calculation since we split up 5 years ago, until last month when I lost my job. I missed one month payment but should be ok to restart payments this month as I got a new job.
My questions are :
1. should I repay the month I missed (our child maintenance is a private arrangement)
2. my ex is refusing to send our eldest on a 3 night school trip that cost £200 as I said I am not paying towards it, that child maintenance should cover this?
cheers!
hi,
has your ex complained about the miss payment? if you think your ex might open a case with Child maintenance service, then that will cause lot of issues for you. better to keep it as private arrangement. suggest you make up for the missed payment, especially if she is demanding it.
if school trip is not compulsory to attend, then its optional. your maintenance payments are meant to cover day to day costs of childcare when in Mother's care. if you would like to pay extra for school trips etc, then that is up to you.
