[Solved] Re-taking of school year CSM impact?

I have an agreement where I continue to pay child maintenance until the child reaches 18 or finishes secondary education, whichever is the latter.

Given the Covid situation my child, without consulting me, has decided to retake the first year of college.

I'm just wondering if anyone has seen this situation before - that decision could well mean that I have to delay certain financial plans for an additional year.

Thanks
C

PS I did get advice about the 'secondary education' definition and believe that included college (i.e. sixth form)

hi,
are you paying through CMS? if child is genuinely retaking a college year, then I think you should continue to pay maintenance. other thing you can do is ring DWP/CMS and ask about the status of child benefit. they like to link the two. so in theory if child benefit is no longer being received by childs mother, then you should not pay maintenance.

Thanks Bill. It was a court order that was based on the CSA calculation that was in place at the time of the order which said payments should continue until the child is 18 or completes secondary education; whichever is the latter.
