I have recently had a letter from the CMS stating an ex girlfriend of 9 years ago has opened a case, I was contacted 9 years ago from the CSA from the same ex, I requested a DNA test through CSA and she declined to give me one, so the case was dropped. My concern now is if I am found to be the father will I have to pay for the previous 9 years? any advise please?

CMS arrears can only legally accrue from the date a CMS case was opened.
Since you are saying the original case was dropped when your ex refused to supply the child for DNA testing, then no case could have been opened (and if anyone attempts to tell you otherwise, I would contest it... ). So no, the CMS will not be interested in the previous 9 years.
I have to concur with others, stopping paying because you werent seeing the children to your liking was a mistake, they are still your burden to bear. You do owe arrears from December. If they are now involved I imagine its the CMS not the CSA and you will be liable from the date of the application regardless of what you've paid.
I have been paying back pay of 9000 to csa 40% of my wages is taken out by csa monthly.. my daughter is now 17 and at college but she also has a part time job and can do up to 35 hours per week.. i dont think her mother has declared this.. can any one tell me if she is still entitled to get as much money from me as she is. she is actually earning more money than i am.. hows this fair
If her course is more than 12 hours a week and is considered non-advanced full time education then maintenance is still payable.
i understand i have to pay while she is in education but does the fact she has a paid job not get taken into concideration
No it doesn't.
i have just rang child maintenance options myself regarding this as i have a daughter who is 16 and about to start collage part time whilst doing a part time job! so because she is still in education for more then 12 hours we have to pay but if she decided not to go in to education child maintenance wouid stop
Hello all, I have been paying the CSA for 10 years; now my child is 18 has taken her exams and is going to university. the ex has said I still have to pay until October but she is no longer in fulltime education any Ideas on this ???
I think in this situation, if the child left non advanced full time education in the June, the payments stop at the beginning of September.
How much should I be paying I ex maintenance of I look after 2 kids already of my own
It all depends on your income, the CMS make their calculation on a percentage of gross income, less any pension pots, less a percentage for every overnight the children stay over and for other children that you support.
Here’s a link to the .Gov calculator, which is a rough guide to see how much you might be expected to pay
