[Solved] pension

can i ask if anybody knows if your pension is taken into account when working out csa payments as i finish in the forces after 22 years hopefully i will find a job but if for some reason i dont the only income i have is my pension will this then be used ?

Hi Barnster,

If the income that you recieve from your pension is taxable then it is considered in the calculation.

If its war pension or tax free invalidity then not.

As an example I recieve a pension for being MD, not war pension, and as this is tax free it is not included.

Im afraid that they will as any taxable income is included.

Do you get the option to defer your pension to a later date to delay your retirement and increase the pension payments? If so, if you get another job, you could do this, in which case you aren't receiving your pension. If not, you could pay that pension into a new private pension scheme - that would e allowed. Of course, either of these will reduce your own takehome pay.
