hi, i make payments to my daughters mom who is married with someone else and also has a son with, she says to me that the payments arent enough and she said shes going through csa to get more money, i used the csa calculater to work out how much i should pay and i offered to give her extra, but im going to loose my job in january so what will happen to my payments as i wont be able to give her any money, will the csa still give her money?

Hi there and welcome 🙂

Once you are unemployed you wont be liable for maintenance, and as the CSA dont make the payments, their role is purely administrative, this means she'll have less money.

ok thx for the reply, i know iam liable for the upkeep of my daughter which i want to be apart of but my daughters mom and family have a nice income and nice cars and that so i just think that something is wrong with the government system that the father has to loose out while the mother is living the good life, to add to matters she has stopped me from having her overnight, iam positive i will have a new job but if csa get involved i will have to move down in life so to speak

Hi ... 🙂

I agree, it seems so unfair when the mother has alternative income and lives very comfortably, and the Dad struggles to make end meet.
I wish there was a better, fairer system.

yes it seems unfair for now maybe when the new universal credits system comes into effect might stop people abusing the state so much
