Hi and thanks for looking.
Can anybody tell me whether the following income would be taken into account.
I currently have a direct agreement with my ex. She went to the CSA 18 months ago ( shot herself in the foot as I was paying more to her when CSA were not involved ) and they requested payslips etc to calculate what I should be paying. Since then I pay every month without fail by standing order to my ex.
I have recently changed jobs and just go on the CSA online calculator to work out what to pay.
However, £416 per month (£5,000 per annum) of my income from my employer is a "Non-Taxable" mileage allowance. Do I include this income from my employer into the calculations for CSA ?
Hope you can help
Noel
That's an interesting question noel2012 and one that I really can't answer. I can however ask Child Maintenance Options to pop by and see if they are able to advise you.
Gooner.
Thanks Gooner - if you could please that would be much appreciated
Hi Noel
Thanks for your post. I'm William the Child Maintenance Options Consultant. You asked if your non-taxable mileage allowance would be taken into account when calculating child maintenance.
You've mentioned that you have a direct agreement with your ex-partner. This is called a family-based arrangement. Family arrangements give you the flexibility to agree between you what counts as child maintenance and what to include in your arrangement.
If you wish to follow the guidelines used by the Child Support Agency (CSA) you can more information about how the CSA works out child maintenance by visiting the following link: www.Gov.uk. For information and support on family arrangements, call the Options team on 0800 988 0988.
Hi William and thanks for your post
My ex approached the CSA 18 months ago which is when I sent them my payslips etc. They then worked out the amount I needed to pay - by standing order direct to my Ex. Since then though I have changed jobs ( August 2012 ) and now get a basic salary, monthly bonus, then this tax free mileage allowance. So I have been going onto the online CSA calculator and just inputting my NET pay from my Basic salary and my Monthly bonus. My tax free mileage allowance purely covers my car related costs ( Just about ) so I have not included this on the calculator. I cannot see anywhere on the CSA / Gov.uk website anything relating to a "tax free mileage allowance ".. Can you help with a Yes or a No as to whether I need to include this as I cannot find the info anywhere for this kind of income ?
Thanks Again
Noel
Hi Noel
Thanks for your recent response. The Child Support Agency (CSA) works out child maintenance using the paying parent's income, which includes earnings, money from an occupational or personal pension and tax credits. They use the amount of income left after deductions such as Income Tax, National Insurance and any money paid into a personal pension scheme.
You mentioned that you pay your child maintenance through the CSA. I’m sorry but we can't look into individual cases here as we are a separate organisation. If you would like to contact the CSA then I am sure they will be able to give you a more detailed answer regarding your case. You can find contact details on any letter the CSA have sent to you. Or, you can find the right number here: https://www2.dwp.gov.uk/csa/v2/en/contact/index.asp
Once again thank you for contacting us.
William
