I am currently paying child maintenance for my daughter, who is subject to a care order.
Basically my ex went off the rails, stopped me seeing my daughter (threatening me and my family with violence), attempting suicide etc. My daughter was taken into care (unknown to me) and was placed for adoption. I found out, stepped in, and my daughter came to live with me and my wife and children.
Since then, my ex has cleaned herself up, and after two years persuaded my daughter to go back to her. My daughter is subject to a full care order, and gets monetary support from the local authority.
My question is this: If my ex receives support from the local authority, and if my daughter is subject to full care order, is it right that the CSM charges me the full amount? I have three children with my wife, and after bills etc (and the £250/month csm payment) we are left with only £200 for food, clothes, expenses for a family of 5. How can this be right? One child entitled to £250/month, yet my family and I have to live on £200/month.
On one hand the government says we need help financially (child tax credit) yet on the other hand they are taking £250/month off me.
This is really getting my wife and I down.
Who receives the child benefit for the child?
