Spurgeons and Dad.Info doesn’t investigate reports of abuse or neglect. But below, you can find advice on who to contact if you have concerns about a child or young person.

Reporting a concern

It can be difficult to know what to do if you think a child is at risk. It’s important to remember that if you’ve spotted things that don’t seem right, others will have too. Speaking up can make sure that child gets help as soon as possible.

The sooner you contact your local children’s social care duty team, the quicker they can act. They’re available 24 hours a day, and can make an anonymous report if that feels safer. If a child is in immediate danger, please call the police straight away by dialling 999.

Paying rent plus CSA

I’m in a position where my (ex) partner has pulled the trigger early on claiming CM via the CSA - and by early I mean that whilst having moved out (separation was only intended as temporary initially) I’m still paying for the rent, electricity, internet, etc for the house that she and the children are living in.

CSA have calculated my payments, but on the phone even they seem at a loss as to whether I should be making them when I’m already paying more than that in rent, electricity, etc to her.

Does anyone have any experience of a similar situation? - am I able to show the rental (and other) payments as a contribution to (or more than) the child maintenance payments until they move out or she takes over the rental payments?

 - or will I somehow need to bankrupt myself to cover both until the tenancy ends?
