Hi,
I would like to know if I can pay my monthly payment via a posted cheque to my ex wife. My payment is made on the 1st of each month.
I am guessing as long as the cheque shows the 1st of the month as the date it was issued then it can’t be classed as a late payment if she receives it a few days later in the post?
I can’t see anywhere on the CMS site that says I cannot do this. It of course leaves me open to her saying she hasn’t received the payment, however I will have a postal receipt and the cheque receipt.
Look forward to hearing from anyone who can advise.
Hi,
That sounds like a bad idea. Cheque may get lost, could be delays in getting cleared with bank. Would be easy for your ex to tell CMS that your late or didn't pay.
@bill337 Hi, thanks for the reply. I spoke to the CMS today and they confirmed I can pay by cheque.
As long as I keep receipts of the postage I am good. She can say what she wants but if I have proof it was sent then that’s on her and her problem:-)
