Paying for less children

Hello,

While doing some research I came across this forum and hoping someone can maybe help out.

My eldest is now 18 and away to Uni so I no longer pay for his upkeep. I have four kids and in my head thought this would drop my monthly payments by 25% but going by the calculator it's dropped by 9% this is made even stranger by the fact that when I added a fourth just to see, it turned out that I would be paying less in total each month for four than three.

This has totally baffled me has anyone got any answers to the above?

Hi,

All I can think of is with CMS, you pay 19% of your income if you have 3 or more kids. So probably not going to be a substantial reduction as you will still be paying for 3 kids.

@bill337

Thanks for the reply, that could very well be it. I still can't get my head around why I'd be paying lass a month for all 4 of them rather than 3 though.
