Hi
I split with my wife 14yrs ago after she had an affair, we had a little girl who must be about 15years of age now whom I haven't seen since she was 8months old because I was told that I wasn't the father and the child was the result of her affair. I was completely destroyed and moved abroad to get away from the situation. I've spent the last 14 years living in Dubai but have had to come home as my father is of ill health. I have now been back in the uk for about 18months and have secured a steady job but 2weeks ago I received contact from the department of work and pensions stating that I owe approx £38k in outstanding child maintenance. I have tried to discuss this with the department but keep getting told that if I'm disputing paternity I need to address through the courts. I'm at my wits end, I cannot contact my ex wife as I don't know where she is now residing. Can somebody please assist in advising me what documents I need to use to request this officially through the courts
Regards Paul
I'm not sure what the documents are, but with such a sum involved, I would seriously recommend getting professional legal advice on this.
