Did you receive any previous letters form the CSA? They can't just write to you out of the blue and demand arrears of that amount. Have you moved since the divorce and how long are the arrears for?

The only advice I can give is to,go and see your MP.

Best of luck

hi thanks back in 1994 they got in contact then had a court order on my wages of £106 per week they took it for 5 mths till I finally found a solicitor that would help and it was stopped at my cost again then in 2000 the reared again assessed me again then never got anything back, but every year they sent one standed letter say nil to pay till 2013 dec when I opened the standed letter it said nil to pay but under that it said balance reinstated 19000 , I was gob smacked to say the least so I rang but to no joy they said it still stands iv herd nothing for ten years about a dept. I suppose to owe them , explained again that when I got divorced maintenance was sorted out in court and was agreed in court by both party's I handed over our house solely to her for maintenance which was £47000 my side the judge said that was fair and that's what happened but they still don't take that into account why ? so to cut a long story short iv paid to keep my daughter in our house and provided for her , but they want me to pay again as that is not taken into account

If you have letters stating nil, where have they got this £19,000 from?
Ask them for a full breakdown of arrears in writing

I'm afraid you really need specialist legal advice on this - as Huxley said, the Citizens Advice Bureau is your best bet initially.
