Hi All,
I am new to this site and asking for some help please!
I have been paying for the last 8 months some £80 per month EXTRA to the calculated child main values - NOT YET REGISTRED WITH CHILD MAINTENANCE yet. Would I be entitled to refund once I join? and how can I reclaim the extra money paid. My child is coming to 17y old. Best Regards

Hi there

Unfortunately whatever you have agreed to pay her outside of any CMS claim can't be taken into account, as its what's called a family based arrangement and amounts are determined between the two parents. The only way to get this back is if she agreed to give it to you, other than that there is nothing you can do.

Either parent can open a claim with the CMS, which will cost £20 to initiate. They will calculate a percentage of your gross income, making reductions if you pay into a pension, or your child stays with you overnight.
