[Solved] Over payment

If there has been an over payment to the Csa how long does it take to get it back. The case was closed last week and at the start of this month payments were put on manual so no payments went to my ex, however they still were taken from my wages. The payment that went out was not due to her and she has agreed that, so she has not had it, so how long before I get it back . Thanks

Hi there

I think it will be best if you call the CSA or CMS to check on this one or hopefully our Child Maintenance consultant will comment. I'm afraid I don't have experience of this and have been unable to find any information online for you.

If you are not able to find a direct answer from them and it's an ongoing issue, it might be worth contacting your local CAB or MP for assistance.

I agree, you need to call CSA/CMS and also look at raising a complaint with the ombudsman sooner, rather than later. The CSA can be very slow on these matters, and there are anecdotes that if the money has been paid out, then you don't always get it all back.
