Good Evening,
I am hoping someone can help me. I have just changed jobs and as such contacted the CMS as my earnings have reduced by over 25% so they could recalculate my payments. I also told them about the shared care I have and have always had and that I have 3 other children at home instead of 2. Got a letter this morning showing just the change in shared care, but with my old earnings and 2 other children. Rang then up and was told you will get letters with each of the changes until they send the final one with all the change So! I swear they do this just to get you to waste money on your phone bill! Anyway just reading through the raft of pages and picked up on a line which said "each payment includes £??? Of ongoing child maintenance" this is then added to the payment amounts. Worked out an extra £50 a month on top of the "regular child maintenance" amount! So I checked my review paperwork from last year and its on there aswell! Does anyone have a clue what this is?
I'm afraid I don't know the answer to this. Hopefully one of our other members might be able to offer more insight on this and failing that, our Child Maintenance Consultant.
were there any arrears that you were aware of? It's the only thing I can think of. I'd certainly question it.
Hello Shortie1979
With you having a case with the Child Maintenance Service you would need to speak with them directly to discuss any concerns or queries you have regarding your case or payments. You will find their details on any letters they have sent you or on Gov.uk at https://www.gov.uk/child-maintenance.
I have included a link on how the Child Maintenance Service calculates maintenance that you may find helpful, https://www.gov.uk/how-child-maintenance-is-worked-out/how-the-child-maintenance-service-works-out-child-maintenance.
For more information on all the different ways to set up child maintenance and for a more personalised service, you can visit the Child Maintenance Options website at http://www.cmoptions.org.
The DWP have a sorting out separation web-app that you may find useful. It offers help and support to separating and separated families. The link is: www.dad.info/divorce-and-separation/sorting-out-separation.

William
