Hi
ive been divorced for 2 years and paying maintenance for my 2 kids - I monitor the number of nights I have my kids as myself and my ex are flexible with our arrangements.
Using a rolling year with the current planned nights, I can see if I take November 21 to October 22 I will have had the kids for 158 nights in that rolling year. Is that grounds to drop the maintenance by 3/7 at the end of October or do I have to wait to the end of December?
Your thoughts appreciated!
Hi you could use these shared care bands for child maintenance as a guide:
If over the year your child is with the paying parent between:
52 and 103 nights: child maintenance is reduced by 1/7th for each child
104 and 155 nights: child maintenance is reduced by 2/7th for each child
156 and 174 nights: child maintenance is reduced by 3/7th for each child
175 nights or more nights: child maintenance is reduced by 50%, plus an extra £7 a week reduction for each child.

Also can use the CMS calculator:
@bill337 Thanks for your reply Bill - I guess my question is ‘is there a set year eg jan 1st to Dec 31st? Or can I choose any dates to start/finish as long as it’s a year in total? Thanks
Hi,
As it's a private arrangement you could both decide on this, stick with Jan-dec as its more straight forward
