Hi, I am self employed, well I was, but my income has come to complete stop due to the Coronavirus. I am unable to pay my child maintenance as I have no income other than my state pension and a small private pension of £300.00 per month. I spoke to my ex wife and she professed to completely understand as she is self employed too but is remarried and her partner has funds. She is now saying that she didn't understand. I cannot pay maintenance for my two children so what is my position with regards to this.
What is your annual income from self employment
None, I was supporting the business with a small pension pot which ran out in January. I had developed a business pipeline that would have taken me forward financially but as my business was selling software to schools, it has all stopped now.
hi,
are you paying maintenance through child maintenance service? if not, then it may be possible to reason with your ex. see if you can have payments suspended or greatly reduced.
other options is to sign up to that support for self-employed scheme. or universal credit.
