Morning

I have just had a letter from CMS after having no contact with ex GF and Child for 13 years

I am now married with 2 kids (one of which receives DLA)

Does anyone know how that it taken into account when my calculation is done and how much will it be reduced by?
Gross pay is £64k

also how long am I going to have to pay? Child in question is 14 in December

Many thanks

Hi,

With CMS you can claim certain expenses, one is:

- costs to support children who live with you if they have a disability or a long-term illness.

- you can claim expense for the 2 children you support/or living with you.

https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/other-financial-commitments-child-maintenance-cases#:~:text=These%20are%20called%2 0'special%20expenses,or%20a%20long%2Dterm%20illness

So if you apply for that expense, CMS will reduce your payments slightly.

Child maintenance payments usually stop when children reach the age of 16. However, if the child is in full-time approved education, it may stay in place until they reach the age of 20.
