Hi can someone just make a claim for CSA anytime they want after a baby is born, like years n years? If they have had nothing to do with the Dad.
hi,
if you are the bio dad of the child, yes their mum could open a claim. they could tell CMS that you did not pay anything, even if you did as a private arrangement. far as i know they could open a claim before the child is 16-20 age range. but i would be surprised if they back-date the payments.
if child was born during time of the old CSA system, it might be possible.
A child maintenance claim only starts from when your ex decides to apply for it. It is not backdated , only from date claimed. Ie if was 1 april they may start payments from may 1st which anything would be divided over remaining weeks .
Thank you for your replies. So basically if you have had say a ons with someone, if that person finds out your details they can make a claim anytime
well yes they can make a claim. if you dispute that you are the real father of child, you could tell CMS. They will probably order you to take a DNA test.
Unless you had a letter from child maintenance i wouldnt worry about it.
Well i know she got pregnant and had a child
