[Solved] New application- when do payments start?

Hello

I received the information from the child maintenance since my lovely ex wife is refusing me any access to my boys but yet would like my money.

I am self employed, so had to get an accountant to do my tax return and once this was done I submitted it along with the form to csa. It’s been about a month and I’ve not heard anything from them. At what point do payments start? Will I be incurring any charges or will they be prepared to backdate any new applications from the start of when that thing contacted csa or is it as soon as csa figure the total out and send me the figure payments start then? I don’t want a huge bill since I’m off work with depression and crippling court fees thanks to the ex witch but she’s still not happy she’s got the house, all the contents, my boys and still wants more.

Hi there

Sorry to hear your struggling, it’s never easy, especially when the ex is unreasonable. Have you told the CMS your off work at the moment?

Payments start from the point that you were first notified by the CSA, or CMS as they’re known as now.

It would be wise to do a rough calculation of how much you will be paying, and put that amount away, otherwise you might find you’re behind with payments.

If you have two kids it works out at about 16% of gross income. They will make reductions if children stay overnight.

All the best
