Hi new here, I took a paternity test around 2 years ago which has been disputed as the out come was negative to me being the farther. I still have the results somewhere, today I received a text message about managing my account with cms, they sent me a letter saying the mother of the child in which I took the paternity test for disputed the results and I would need to do another test and a short interview under police caution. What should I do any advice is most welcomed as it's 2 years on and all this has just come about bearing in mind I still have the previous results

hi,

under police caution. a bit extreme isnt it. all i can suggest is re-take the test, and comply with them to avoid any trouble. they would have to be nuts to ask you to take a test for a 3rd time.

I don't see why it would need to be under police caution - this should only be involved if there is a criminal offence, they don't do cautions for civil matters to the best of my knowledge. I would also say that since there is already a test result, then the cost of the re-test should be bourne by CMS, not by you. Otherwise, presumably you don't have any objection to re-taking the test, so I would have thought that the normal procedures would apply, so presumably at your GP, etc where there is someone independant who can verify that it is your DNA being given.

I don't see that a change from CSA to CMS should affect anything, the test was done to their standards by the look of it. Does sound like they are clutching at straws.
